After being held captive in a box by a disgusting serial kidnapper named Jacob, Flora Dane has taken recovery into her own hands. She fights her victim advocate Samuel, and her mother doesn’t know what to do with her, and her brother is afraid of the sister he searched for and who she has become.
Since her return, Flora has made it her goal to take down people like her kidnapper. Her room is covered in articles and photographs of other girls who never made it home. She even puts herself in dangerous situations to take down her suspects. Is she going too far, or is she on the path to healing?
On her path to healing – she finds herself once more facing her dark past.
This was the book that got me hooked on mystery thriller books. The character Flora Dane is strong and merciless. And Detective D.D Warren is witty and relatable. I love the way in which the points of view switch from character to character so smoothly. And Flora’s backstory is haunting in a way that sticks with me, but I admire her perseverance. And her good sense of humor. Truly one of the best kidnapping stories I’ve read.
