Dear Debbie by Freida McFadden

Dear Debbie via Goodreads

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

“Everything that happened was simply…karma.”

Debbie Mullen runs an advice column, helping women like herself. Women who feel ignored, belittled, or even abused by their husbands. She tries to guide them in the right direction.
Her current daily life starts spiraling out of control – she loses her job, her teenagers are acting strange and distant, and her husband is keeping secrets.
Debbit decides enough is enough – it’s time to get to the bottom of this and follow her own advice: do something about it.

This was a powerful stance on the lives of women when trauma goes unnoticed or unspoken. Women like Debbie exist every day, falling into the background of their families’ lives while they keep it all together for everyone else. Debbie represents the women who refuse to suffer in silence. Motherhood does not have to mean you forget about working on yourself while raising a family. A family is stronger because a parent confronts their fears and prevents passing on traumatic cycles of behavior to their children. I love spotting McFadden’s background in the medical field peeking through in her writing.
Everything about her fiction is spectacularly planned and thought out.
Ughhh, she got me again with a great ending.
